not that bad

i think the drum patterns were good and overall the entire piece was clear. the way the bassline stops and starts was a nice effect (though i think the bassline sounds like it lags a bit too much from the beat of the song, but thats just me.)

my main complaints are-1)those screaming voices just got kinda annoying lol 2) i think the song would sound cooler wtih more electronicky drums than what u have right now, but its okay 3) i like the bassline but for some reason i dont like the synth u used that much, i might just like more passive stuff or something but i dont know. lol. and 4)the kinda high ambient sounds seem to be off tune from the bassline and stuff so it sounds disconnected from the song.

sorry if u dont like feedback like some people do. lol overal its an okay dnb song.

No! I love reviews, the feedback always helps. But I also like it when people vote , or more importantly, download. I love it when I know that people are listening and so do other AP artists. I'll check out your stuff post haste.

CHIPTUNES@NEWGROUNDS! YAY!

haha just because this is chiptunes i give u mad props. i felt this was pretty good, tho its could use the 8 bit drums that i love so very much :D

jared-meyer responds:

yea... i really like NES style music, and i will probably be making more songs like this :D

some flaws

I think that this has potential to be slick, but needs to be touched up a bit. the drum arrangement at the beginning seems to sparse and spastic, but later on it gets a bit better. i think they can use some editing to make them sound more intense.

that guitar-pad thing that you used sounded pretty coool except that im not too keen on those twanging sounds. i think that the feel of this song could be better achieved wiht something different, something darker.

lastly, ithink itd sound muy awesome if there were multiple melodies at the same time rather htan concentrating on one and one alone.

overall, this is a good start. :)

[sorry if im brutally honest; im jst trying to give feedback to improve rather than flood ppl with flattery. apparently some people dont like me for that :( c'est la vie.]

MasterSpanky responds:

i appreciate the feedback. I'm still kinda gettin used to using this and everything. thx alot for the input.

its okay

i like the pads that you used, and the noise in the background. the main things i fault you on are 1) more bass, this is a dnb song! 2) the drums are not chopped or distorted at all. you just like took loops and played them as the drums. be creative! slow them down, speed them up, distort them into noise, thats what jungle's all about. but anyway, this is a nice song, so gj.

Paroxym responds:

thanx for the review but this was not meant to be jungle bro.

nice :)

i love battlefield [the game, right?] and this is a pretty nice mix. i like nearly all the synths and effects, the drums seemed pretty appropriate [i dont know if its just me, but id probably use more electronicky-drums], insert generic accolades.

my main complaint was that one of the synths that went throughout the song was this high, loud, sort-of-scratchy-but-not synth (i thinh you know what im talking about) that seemed to intrude on the generally mellow mood of the rest of the song, and got annoying after a while.

just a random suggestion but maybe a soft ambient pad or stronger bass or something would make the song itself feel more immersive to me. also, the piano can be improved/more realistic if, instead of each note being the same volume and velocity and stuff, changed in volume (because no pianist plays all notes with the same force) and it would sound more realistic and dramatic at the same time.

but otherwise, cool track. and thanks for the review :D

Dj-Rec0il responds:

good thing you liked and yeh i didnt actaully spent so much timeon this track though im gonna iprove with better sounds and all well ima do mah mest bro peace out for now

ehhh

hehe i always laughed at this song when it played, but okay. there were some flaws, ill list them down here

the lead synth was okay for a little bit, but i just dont feel it sounds energetic enough to hold the song up.

the drum loop doestn fit the song, and it sounds weak. its also very soft.

the little whistling thing in the transition is irritiating

on the way to the first chorus section of the song, the toms make the song sound choppy

the electric guitar bass is too low to produce a melody, so it usually detracts from the song

the guitar solo doesnt sound like a guitar, just sounds like a chopped up trance synth, which isnt so great

the second synth [the one that plays alongside the lead synth like another "guitar"] doesnt seem to fit in so well, since it sometimes seems late to its notes, doesnt sound like a strong guitar, has that plucking feeling because of the attack. it just doestn seem to fit in well.

overall, your take on this song doesnt really sound impressive. Though you can do better, because some of the elements of this song were not that bad.

check out my stuff :D

You should be a music critic. You could piss alot of people off and make money at the same time. Awkward!

i like it, but it just sound airy

like, theres very little bass sound, so it sounds incomplete, as if its coming through a phone or something. So if you can make it feel more immersive, id give u a 9 or a 10 :)

check my stuff plz :D

encino187 responds:

Thanks for the advice. If you get a chance (I don't know if you have done this already) play it through a stereo that has some sub-woofers. You might be pleasantly surprised. I tried to mix it so that it's not too muddy sounding on standard stereos but will knock if played on a big system. I'm still trying to find a happy medium with mixing.

not too bad!

i liked the melody, bassline, beat, and the chords in the background

my only suggestions wouuld to be to change the synth [or maybe just make it softer] of the foreground melody, i just think that it doesnt work that well with all the mellow tones in the background, and add some effects/variations to make it a more diverse song.

check my stuff plz :D

BMC-Audio responds:

thank you for the review...the foreground instrument was actually an oboe, and i didnt mean for it to be as load as it ended up being...(mastering mistake :) i wanted to keep the effects to a minimum in this one so it would fit a rpg map feel. and for some reason it didn't loop~ oh well

thx again, i'll check out ure stuff.

meh

The claps sound out of place for the dynamic of the song--downtempo and mechanical. the looped bassy sounds themselves sounded okay at first, but just werent interesting as the song went on. having no melody, espicially in songs like this, could be good, so those random off-tune bleeps halfway through the song just seem out of place. and the song never changes throughout the track. sorry, but ill have to agree with the guy below me.

On the positive side, the bassy sounds and twanging thing in the background werent that bad, but the claps just seemed to take them away from my attention. You can do better, though, since, under its problems, there was some good stuff here.
