ehhhhh

this was an okay reproduction of what the pallet town theme was, but after that, all you really did was throw on a breakbeat on top--i think that even if it is meant to jst be a loop to work on, you could have at least played around with teh melody and the breakbeat to see how you could make them interact--its basically jst 2 loops on top of each other without any attention to how they complement each other. whatever, ill take a look at ur other stuff haah

scoutzero responds:

Yeah, this was just something I messed around with. :D

hehe ill tell u what

yeah, it isnt house music, probably one of those progressive offshoots of breakbeat stuff or something. but theres no category for that here... iwonder why?

anyway, the song. ithink each section was pretty well made, but it wandered around too much--it just keeps changing into different forms all the time, way too quickly for me to really feel it in any thematic way. but the production of it all was very nice and in some ways quite minimalistic. nice job on that :)

so yeah, overall it was pretty well made but didnt really keep me interested for a totally long time for that compositional reason. whatevsss! keep rockin.

Well, I have a thing with trying to make a song interesting by combining patterns to make it more lively and jumpy rather than to repeat a certain line for a while but I can definitely understand you felt that I kinda overdid it here.

I have a few tracks that are a little more "solid" or you know...slower, relaxed I guess.
It would be awesome if you could check out a few more tracks. =3

So....yeah, thx for the critique, I will take this into cosideration for my future songs again.

very nice!

somewhere in the depth of the glitchy sfx was a wandering melody and a kind of abstract rhythm.... this was very immersive. as a loop, this is tight--though if it were a bit longer, maybe some lower frequencies and serenity before teh chaos would be nice? hehe i think spreading out the atmosphere to the full spectrum would make it more immersive for the kind of cellular, amoeba lost in a huge sea of predators-feel. nevertheless great job! this was in interesting one.

vai90 responds:

Wow, that was the best formulated review I've read this week and I got an amazing amount of reviews lately (for which I am very grateful by the way)!

Thank you!

cool tune :)

as it got started, it sounded likea nice solid intro with the really tinny sound to everything. the melody is something i can nod my head to, and a lot of the synths throughout were really nice like the thing that came in at like :55. it brought a smile to my face :)

the main problem i had though was that everything seemed way too weak. it never built in power or anything, it seemed like everything was highpassed. there wasno audible bassline, and the drums all sounded really tinny and lacking in lower frequencies, so it didnt have much of a lasting appeal.

nevertheless this was a nice song to listen to after a long day :)

Yamalazoo88 responds:

wow thanks! makes me feel good!

nice

sounded pretty decent as a backtrack for some lyrics or something :) this had a totally solid beat, though the background synths were a bit too wet and acidy for my liking. i guess it jst didnt really rub me right, i tend to fall into the oldsch ool scene :D nevertheless, although this is really really short, it was decent. get on finishing it :)

Rig responds:

MADNESS PROVIDED BY FL STUDIO'S SPEECH SYNTHESIZER

haha wow

this sounded so retro! jst puts a smile on my face, the kind of song i'd hear at the end of a really old, quirky video game. haha nice one. no legit review for this necessaryyyyy! :D

p.s. you should take a look at my latest... :D

Rig responds:

Happy faic! :D

wowwwwww

the atmosphere was so damn deep. what really made it for me was the pitchshifting down the piano.... it really makes it feel like its being sucked down deeper and deeper... the bass goes down into more or less atonal madness... the choir sounds more and more strained.....

only thing i mgiht have thought could have been better was maybe eq the bass up louder so it really shakes my bones without me having to crank up the highs too, as an overwhelming feel. keeeep it goinnn!

Karco responds:

Once again, it seems I did something right with this track. :)

I see where you're coming from with the bass. But there's plenty of bass in the track already, and I think adding too much would hurt the feel more than it would help it. ;)

Thanks for the review!

interesting concept

youve got an interesting concept goin on here. i wasnt really expecting much from the intro, but the way it all flowed kinda caught my eye--err, ear. the bass drum going into the bass synth sounded like a sweet idea--maybe try makign the transition smoother?

as it progressed, it sounded pretty interesting until the 1:00 mark--it sounds just completely outside of the feel of teh song--running off of subtle changes and no real melodic line except for what happens to be playing at the time--i say scrap it. same with 1:47. and the breakbeat that happens there probably can use some more interesting variation anyway.

overall, cool idea, but get rid of those 2 sections and explore more esoteric details to CONSTRUCT [ha. ha.] the piece from the ground up and itd be really cool to listen thru.

check out my latest! http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/liste n/174844 - Midnight. i review you, its only fair you review back :D

scoutzero responds:

thanks again! :D

cool loop

this sounds really nice already. i think this could work as a full version, but what i would change before i do that is:

first, the pitch bending on the lead either should be faster, or not affecting like every note. i think that would make it sound more coherent. that, maybe you might want to rethink the melody itself a bit, but id have to see hwo the full would turn out at that point :D

second, the bass could be a little more dynamic--maybe try starting it at its normal tone, letting it stay the same half the time it plays, and then pulling it an octave down as it fades away. that might sound better.

third, the percussion can use work - the bass drum is really weak and lost in teh mix, although the clap sounds good and unique :D

on the positives, i liked the poppy synth in the background, and it was mixed well. i say go ahead :D

Neon-Crepth responds:

im glad you took the time to give me your suggestions, i will consider all of them. just to address that first thing, there was actually only one pitch slide, the rest was cuttoff frequency changes. i liked how that sounded, to put it as Darren-M down there said, like a slinky. i'll see how it sounds double time, that might be good for some variety.
thank you for the review though. and i must give credit to x-exodus-x 's outstanding mastering skills for that clap :D
