ahahaha so bad its good

wowww this made me laugh listening to it. hahaha i agree this is like doom, at least the old timey sound makes it seem like that. great lollll

Haggard responds:

In my opinion doom is much slower than that, heh.
Anyway, thank you for the review ;) .

i disagree with the people below me

i honestly think the speed brought out the emotion within the piece. really, i am left speechless. this is a masterpiece!

Haggard responds:

Thanks, but I don't deserve this... credit belongs to John Cage, as he's the original author of this masterpiece!

hmmm

yeah like said earlier, the melody does wander too much and the pattern is cliched and lame-sounding, so i wont talk about tha tmuch. i think that you could do things in terms of synths/samples tho. I'm just going to throw you a bunch of stuff i can think of right now, since your new and you can use that criticism/suggestions ;) it seems like you have a grasp of how to use the program, so the second step is to experiemetn and figure out what sounds good, what you like and what you dont. [don't necessarily make things for how others would liek it... you will not be happy making music, satisfy urself!! lol]

1) the claps were just kind of weak and annoying, and sometimes the hats seemed out of place :P

2) the bass drum could be more textured - bring up the high frequencies with a parametric EQ or something, maybe overlay another sample so the bass part lasts longer and the drum sounds more interesting.

3) the synths themselves were really bland. i dont know how to tell you to get a good soundign synth, that's something you will have to experiment with. try adding on and taking off effects, changing waveforms and experimenting with LFO [low frequency oscillation] and the like. idk how FL really works, but im sure you can do al that stuff.

4) a stronger bassline would be nice--makes the song sound more full. so would some ambient effects/use of noise.

those are some suggestions, hope i helped :) it just takes time and practice to sound good =] and im glad u liked my song!

aldlv responds:

you helped... thanx a lot =D

hahaahhahaahaahaha

definately awesome. the background was totally solid. but the lyrics really made it hahhahha ronay is amazing

Rig responds:

Go ronay go!

yumm!

i actually though tthat this sounded way more upbeat, not very sad at all even though its in a minor key. i like the slow speed, its more of a head nodding thing than an all out dance, which is nice for a change. i jst complain about some distortion and how the melody jst seems to meander a bit too much. gj!!

[p..s. ur review count looks really low!! [i.e. 0] give reviews in response to reviews dood, keep the cycle going :D]

CommandBeanz responds:

Thank you! Finally someone who understands the effect I was looking for!!! I did speed it up to like 140 BPM and it was more dancey but it didn't sound right. Yeah have a subwoofer so maybe it sound a little different if you have regular speakers but I didn't get too much distortion. Thanks for the review, I'll start responding more lol.

tasty

i thought this was decent at the onset. some constructive criticism:

1) the bass drum probably should be more powerful, and consider adding more percussion than just hats and bass drum and an occasional cymbal, you can make some tight soundscapes that way :) also, the hi hat probably should be changed too, it could be stronger [try something snappy].

2) as teh song went on it just seemed to get a little random. the beginning was nice but it wandered around too much later on.

3)i wish there were some stronger synths, and some non-melodic instruments to make it grittier.

otherwise good job! the instrument work is decent, i like when it starts and stops when the bass drum goes.

Klasmus responds:

meh, it was my first try. At least you don't rank based on the synth but rather instrumental, which is cool. I did not like my hi-hat sample because I thought it was too short and no others would fit for the song.

:D so fun.

yay!!! makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. though everything jst sounds kinda bland/some things are too synthesized-sounding.

and to the guy below, dont judge on genres you idiot. judge on what sounds good. though saxes would sound nice here, they are not necessary, and that is useless.

Joowna responds:

thx!

I will do some more things to make it sounding realistic!

haha wow

compared with the themes to the rest of this game this sounds so cartoony haha i still wonder what this flash submission is like. lolllll, well thanks for killing me after i listened to ur victory theme *glare*

itsameyayo responds:

No problem ;) (jk :P)

*glare*?

*stare* >:( (lol)

And this is for everyone, but the game is about a bunch of misfit superheros, the flash game will be called "Secondhand Superheros." And this game is going to be epic :D

-Thanks for 3 reviews now :D

YAYAYAA!!

I AM SO TRIUMPHANT RIGHT NOW.

itsameyayo responds:

Yay! Now if you want, check out the other song, it's the complete opposite of this one (the You're Pathetic one...even though your not).

-ImperfectDisciple

p.s. THANKS!

badass.

yeah, the mixing needs some work. but apart from that this is pretty tight.

i liked the slow oscillation on that reesey bass sound, along with the slight ambient touches--they are pretty cool.

the onyl thing i can ask for right now is this: i dont think the acousticy drums really fit in with this synth-heavy song--try some more glitchy, electonic drums :D the arrangement is really cool already, but that kinda throws off the vibe of the song. otherwise, GJ!

Quarl responds:

Thanks, glad you liked it. I'd love to try out glitch drums but again, kind of limited in garage band... dunno. Maybe it's just me :P
