'tis okay

hmm i also like cs.... maybe we have similar game tastes. and just to tell you, im not gonna give u anything specific in this review since i listened to this like 2 hours ago and now i dont have sound anymore [traveling :P], so im just tryin to remember stuff.

well, i though that every element of the song was okay, but they had flaws. 1.) the beat and the patterns of drums were fine--i just think that the samples you used didnt complement the sound of the song, and because nothing really was distorted, as a drum and bass song, this is a downside. 2.) i like the melodies of your synths; its just that those annoying trancy synths dont work well with the song [or, as id argue, with any song], especially a dnb one. 3.) the samples of cs radio chatter and gunfire are fine; i just wish they were louder.

and some other random complaints, but i cant remeember them now, so whatevs. but as a whole song, even though some elements dont exactly complement each other, this is an okay track. gj with this and all the rest of your stuff!

random comment:
in ur rev. for my track i didn't use loops for anything [unless you count the like 4 seconds of footsteps, but that really isnt a musical element ;p].

nice :)

i love battlefield [the game, right?] and this is a pretty nice mix. i like nearly all the synths and effects, the drums seemed pretty appropriate [i dont know if its just me, but id probably use more electronicky-drums], insert generic accolades.

my main complaint was that one of the synths that went throughout the song was this high, loud, sort-of-scratchy-but-not synth (i thinh you know what im talking about) that seemed to intrude on the generally mellow mood of the rest of the song, and got annoying after a while.

just a random suggestion but maybe a soft ambient pad or stronger bass or something would make the song itself feel more immersive to me. also, the piano can be improved/more realistic if, instead of each note being the same volume and velocity and stuff, changed in volume (because no pianist plays all notes with the same force) and it would sound more realistic and dramatic at the same time.

but otherwise, cool track. and thanks for the review :D

Dj-Rec0il responds:

good thing you liked and yeh i didnt actaully spent so much timeon this track though im gonna iprove with better sounds and all well ima do mah mest bro peace out for now

ehhh

hehe i always laughed at this song when it played, but okay. there were some flaws, ill list them down here

--

the lead synth was okay for a little bit, but i just dont feel it sounds energetic enough to hold the song up.

the drum loop doestn fit the song, and it sounds weak. its also very soft.

the little whistling thing in the transition is irritiating

on the way to the first chorus section of the song, the toms make the song sound choppy

the electric guitar bass is too low to produce a melody, so it usually detracts from the song

the guitar solo doesnt sound like a guitar, just sounds like a chopped up trance synth, which isnt so great

the second synth [the one that plays alongside the lead synth like another "guitar"] doesnt seem to fit in so well, since it sometimes seems late to its notes, doesnt sound like a strong guitar, has that plucking feeling because of the attack. it just doestn seem to fit in well.

overall, your take on this song doesnt really sound impressive. Though you can do better, because some of the elements of this song were not that bad.

check out my stuff :D

djt820 responds:

You should be a music critic. You could piss alot of people off and make money at the same time. Awkward!

i like it, but it just sound airy

like, theres very little bass sound, so it sounds incomplete, as if its coming through a phone or something. So if you can make it feel more immersive, id give u a 9 or a 10 :)

check my stuff plz :D

encino187 responds:

Thanks for the advice. If you get a chance (I don't know if you have done this already) play it through a stereo that has some sub-woofers. You might be pleasantly surprised. I tried to mix it so that it's not too muddy sounding on standard stereos but will knock if played on a big system. I'm still trying to find a happy medium with mixing.

not too bad!

i liked the melody, bassline, beat, and the chords in the background

my only suggestions wouuld to be to change the synth [or maybe just make it softer] of the foreground melody, i just think that it doesnt work that well with all the mellow tones in the background, and add some effects/variations to make it a more diverse song.

check my stuff plz :D

BMC-Audio responds:

thank you for the review...the foreground instrument was actually an oboe, and i didnt mean for it to be as load as it ended up being...(mastering mistake :) i wanted to keep the effects to a minimum in this one so it would fit a rpg map feel. and for some reason it didn't loop~ oh well

thx again, i'll check out ure stuff.

sorry, but my brain didn't get overloaded :P

this actually wasnt as bad as you said it was. I mean, sure, it sounds different, but it feels more chill than psychoactiveattack-ish to me :D those random effects sometimes seemed dissonant, but that just made it seem creepy in a happy way, so its cool

check out my stuff :D

meh

The claps sound out of place for the dynamic of the song--downtempo and mechanical. the looped bassy sounds themselves sounded okay at first, but just werent interesting as the song went on. having no melody, espicially in songs like this, could be good, so those random off-tune bleeps halfway through the song just seem out of place. and the song never changes throughout the track. sorry, but ill have to agree with the guy below me.

On the positive side, the bassy sounds and twanging thing in the background werent that bad, but the claps just seemed to take them away from my attention. You can do better, though, since, under its problems, there was some good stuff here.

on another note, take a look at my songs if u want :D

Total0wnage responds:

thank you for your review, as you might have already figured out, i'm still learning, your review is a perfect example of a good way for people like me to learn about what we can do better, i'm finetuning the song, hope to get it to sound alot better some day.

i beg to differ.

this track has little to no bass, and the bass drum itself isnt that bassy, just to tell you.

ok. the synth somewhere in the middle of the song was good, but it didnt fit in with the track. however, everything else in the song could be better. the "pump it up" sample sounds real weak. The sort-of-xylophone thing that repeats throughout the song gets annoying and doesnt really add to the song. The hi hats are too soft and short, and they dont really fit in with the song itself. The crash sounds pretty weak too. Very important--there's no bassline so it sounds very empty. and the little claps at the end to diversify the track just seems out of place.

To summarize i guess it just didn't make me want to pump it up and there wasn't much flow to the entire track. you can do better, try again next time!

(if u want, can u take a look at my lonely little tracks??? they need views & reviews :D)

TheUrbanNinjaGirl responds:

maybe you should try turning you computers bass up and then we'll talk.

pretty good, but ehhh sounds a little weak.

yeah, the song itself is good, i like the melodies and how all the instruments compliment each other. but, it just sounds too computer-generated-ish to feel powerful or riveting to me. But otherwise, tis good.

oh, and if u want, take a look at my stuff. they are lonely :B

nice track

the twinkly synth is nice, but it repeats a little too much without variation. I like the effects except for one of them that sounds dissonant with the rest of the song. also, i agree with the guy below me that there isnt enough bass [ambient tracks can have subtle bass, too!]. otherwise, gj!
